Diet is not only aiming to lose weight, but also make the body more healthy. Even running extreme diet also appeared to be recovering diabetes type 2. Although this is only temporary.
Experts from Newcastle University, England made a breakthrough that reverses the assumption that diabetes is a lifelong disease and can not be cured. The trick is a two month extreme diet.
Diabetes type 2 usually develops in middle age occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, and the insulin that is produced does not work properly. Professor Roy Taylor of Newcastle University, believes that fat around vital organs could be the key to understanding the condition.
This fat clogging the pancreas and liver expected, cutting the production of insulin and stop insulin. By doing extreme dieting, the body may feel hungry, but will burn fat and vital organs will be free of fat.
The study involved 11 people with diabetes. They were asked to doing extreme diet with only a salad and non- starch vegetables for eight weeks. The result is fat levels in the pancreas returned to normal and the organ is capable of pumping insulin without problems.
Not only for two months, but three months after the extreme diet ended, seven of the 11 participants were still free of diabetes. Even 18 months later, at least four patients still do not have signs of diabetes .
After this research, Mike Lean of Glasgow University researchers will conduct experiments to see whether greater success can be repeated in a number of participants to more.
"If we can do this safely on a large scale, the low-calorie foods will be a real game charger in reducing the risk of health complications, such as amputation and blindness, "said Dr. Matthew Hobbs of Diabetes UK who funded this study as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Unfortunately, this study can not be applied to people who suffer Diabetes Type 1, where the pancreas is damaged by its own immune system.
